I start most mornings by pressing the Pandora icon on my phone & seeing where it will lead me & it really is true that whatever path Pandora takes me on in the morning determines how my day feels. I love that... because I never really know where I'm going to go each day. A song was suggested for me this morning that I'd never heard before (I love that!), so I pressed play & began to listen. I bet a lot of you know it & I "hate" it when I'm behind the 8~ball on a great song... but not really because you discover everything when you're meant to. The song is "We Are The People" by Bono, Edge, & Martin Garrix (a Dutch DJ & producer). Both the sound & the lyrics had my attention immediately. One line really jumped out at me, though..."A heart that hurts is a heart that works". God, is that true. When you're feeling especially horrible emotional & mental anguish you can even wish that you simply weren't here to experience this pain that you never know how you'll make it through. But that thought that "a heart that hurts is a heart that works" says "It's SO horrible that you're having to go through this but the fact that you ARE feeling this pain means that you're a deeply loving, caring person which makes you someone who is so needed in the world." Somehow you WILL find a way to make it through even though the way that you'll do that is something that you can't see right now ~ but hang in there because you will. If I came upon the man at the forefront of the 3 of Challenges card which I drew a couple of hours after hearing the song, and if he were open to conversation, that's what I would say to him. The Three of Challenges (3 of Swords in a standard deck) is just about the most painful card you can draw & be experiencing. The imagery for the 3 of Swords from the Rider~Waite~Smith tarot is very stark & direct & says it all, so I have placed it just below. It's one of those cards you really hope you won't draw but if you do...a part of you knew you would & just the fact you've gotten to the point of knowing that the situation's as bad as it is means that you're actually already a little bit on your way out of it. We can all let ourselves suffer for far too long in situations of all different varieties usually because we're attached to a person, an idea, or a dream that we had for ourselves or for ourselves with another person, but then there comes a time when holding on to something that's bringing far more pain than happiness (usually no happiness by the time you draw the 3 of Challenges/3 of Swords) just hurts TOO much and you have to begin letting go. That whole scenario is so painful I hate even writing about it, but if you can look at either one of these cards & identify with it in the present moment then there's something you need to begin moving away from. Staying within it is simply too painful & if you're identifying with the 3 of Challenges/3 of Swords, the situation is at a point that it's not likely to get better. It's so hard. Look at the poor man at the front of the card. He's had to make a VERY difficult choice. It most certainly is hurting him deeply in the present moment. The choice might also be something that hurts others in the present moment but it JUST couldn't continue like it was. It will definitely hurt for some time. Being willing to move forward through the pain, though, knowing that you're strong enough to come out the other side ~ and you will ~ means that you have a heart that works. Yours is an extraordinary heart that the world needs more of & by honoring your heart and the hearts of others by doing what you know is best for all of you, you're giving your hearts the opportunity to gradually move into a brighter day where you & others involved will be able to give & receive love in better circumstances and the experience that you're having right now will be a strong foundation that you can stand on because you stood up for yourself & showed yourself a great act of Love.
