The man in the 10 of Challenges (10 of Swords in a standard deck) has really been through it. He doesn't stop often to rest but this time he simply must. He's been fighting a hard fight for a very long time. Lately it seems he's come upon nothing but impenetrable walls that are built very high. He's a Knight and a highly intelligent (the Challenges/Swords suit is the Air element, which rules the mind & communication), brave, and typically high energy one who believes there's always a path, always a way... and there is...but this time he just simply must stop to rest because the current challenge is a particularly tough one. If you look closely, his finery has become tattered & torn, his Sword is battered, and his helmet has taken a particularly terrible beating but that's no surprise since he's both a quick & a deep thinker and it's so frustrating to have something you poured your heart & soul into and came up with a seemingly no~fail strategy to achieve, meet so many brick walls & dead ends...for now. Among the things that the 10 of Challenges represents are pain, severe criticism, & being stabbed in the back. On top of everything else, you may be feeling betrayed by someone. But there is at least one someone out there (and more than likely, many more, too) who is with you in what you're fighting for. Someone is being loyal, steadfast, and true & cares deeply for you. This is represented by the man's loyal horse who looks towards him with a very sympathetic & caring expression. Maybe you know who that is or maybe it's not obvious yet. If it's the latter, then stand by yourself right now. You've made it this far and you can do it. Your cause is a worthy one. You're a strong Knight and you can do this. While this may sound like a funny thing to say, take comfort in knowing that your pain is the worst that it can be. Tens represent the culmination of the energy of its suit, in this case, pain, sorrow, hardship, suffering, and frustration. You've been through so much. Like the man in the card, take some time to rest. It's okay to be still now. Sometimes the universe does for us what we cannot do for ourselves and everything around you is saying there's no way forward on the current path. It's a good time for pausing and being still....the end of the year. If you look at it as you only need to be still until the wheel of the year turns to January 1st, it may be easier for you ~ to know that, should you choose, you can get up & go again as soon as January 1st rolls around. You'll be refreshed & have a new plan then! Or maybe you'll find yourself loving the quiet of winter and being quiet along with it. But it's all up to you ~ what the next steps are ~ things just can't continue on the exact same path & in the exact same way that they have been and now that you've had a moment to rest & think about it. you don't want them to anyway.
What's the area in your life that simply cannot continue the way that it has been? What has you weary, worn out, and drained of all your energy? The thing with which, no matter how much energy you pour into it, it's just not going anywhere right now & is causing you great pain in the process? As you move into this first full week of December, give that some thought. Step back from it... maybe for the remaining weeks of the year. This is a very nice time to step back, anyways. When the New Year rolls around, maybe while you were allowing your mind & body to rest, you may discover that a new way forward presents itself... maybe with the original goal or maybe you will have let go of that one to embark upon an entirely new path. The only way to discover that, though, is to allow your beautiful mind to rest.
